Holistic design is an approach that considers the system being created as an interconnected whole which is also part of something larger. We apply holistic concepts to architecture and building, as well as the design of mechanical systems and the layout of spaces. We study everything from passive systems that reduce energy use to active systems designed to make a structure's carbon footprint smaller. Our approach incorporates sustainability and concerns for the environment, carefully considering how our design will impact the space around us.
Environmentally sensitive site planning:
Homes sited to respect natural contours and view corridors; minimal disturbance outside building envelopes
Native landscaping & xeriscape:
Low‑water Sonoran plant palette; optional rain‑harvesting and smart irrigation
Responsible lighting:
Dark‑sky‑friendly fixtures to reduce glare and preserve night skies
Energy performance:
High‑efficiency HVAC, foam‑insulated roof assemblies, low‑E glazing, and tight building envelopes (per plan)
Solar & EV ready:
Conduit/space for future solar and EV charging (per plan)
Water-wise design:
Low‑flow fixtures and recirculating hot‑water options (per plan)
Materials:
Preference for durable, low‑maintenance exterior materials suited to the desert climate
